Another fun event with some interesting jobs. Here are my reviews.


Contend/LTS: The Igloo by agrajag

Nice to see more C/LTSs being made. With many CS propped jobs the game area can often be too large an area, but terto has countered this nicely with golf carts to speed you around the arena. Here the key is to kill everyone on the opposing team first, leaving you free to capture all the bags and all the opposition fighting it out in the deathmatch. Good cover on either side of each capture case, means that good little battles can develop over the bags and the nature of the capture, means that it is possible for players to flank undetected. Maybe the DM side could benefit from an assault rifle or two. Probably time for RVBB soon.


CL Christmas Avalanche by CL-Longman

An avalanche style LTS that unfortunately suffers from the issue of the dynamic props falling on their own after the first round and bringing all the rest of the props down with them. So, put dynamic props below the vehicles and change the pantos for trucks – something slow that can’t make it up the hill and will take out anyone cycling up the hill. As it was, the running team won each time, because all their weapons and cover overpowered the marksman rifles that the sniper team had.


Triple Standoff by Mr. Echo

Three team LTS, with each team starting on identical (but differently coloured) platforms armed with advanced rifles and snipers and a grenade launcher in an exposed spot. Each team also has one motorbike each, which they can use to jump to neighbouring platforms and flank the opposing team. I made the mistake of jumping off a ramp that was pointing straight at a gap, meaning I had to adjust in mid air and landed badly, so got shot before I could even stand up. Either move the jumps so that this doesn’t happen or put in something to direct the jumpers in the right direction. Weapons placements and health pickups are sparse, but ample.


Pantos Pathos #2 ¬¢$¥ by loftonian

The second of Loftonian’s Pantos Pathos sees insurgents chasing Pantos through a linear course, before only the Pantos can get into the arena where the weapons, tanks, jets and helicopter are stored. Insurgent team can also jump into the Panto area at the start and kill anyone who is afk and get their own panto (if any left). Plus it is possible to obstruct the ramp to the weapons and to climb in on foot over some rocks. Unfortunately, I see no way to actually stop the a fair number of the panto team getting to the weapons, so the team that starts in the pantos will likely always win. Maybe if it were possible to knock the pantos out of the arena or to disable their vehicles whilst en route, it would seem a bit more balanced. As it is, you are chasing pantos to your own death.

4 team LTS designed for First person (and preferably Radar + OHD off, though we didn’t this time, this will go into the pot for the next Hide and Seek playlist we do). Vespucci canals are enclosed by tubes and platforms sit just under the water, so that one can run and gun with ease. Weapon and health pick-ups are found on and around bridges,However, the key here is to get to the grenades in the centre of the map, from where you can dominate anyone else trying to reach them, before moving out to mop up the stragglers. However, I can see this playing very differently when you can’t see where you opponents are - I look forward to playing it again as it was intended to be played.


THE WICKER MAN 2 by dannyNATIVE

A fantastically well designed map from dannyNATIVE that recaptures the theme of the film, to a degree. One team starts in a burning man effigy and must use the quad-bike (the motorcycle doesn’t seem to work) to smash up the pallets that they start on to escape. Meanwhile, the opposing team is running in. There are many pool cues in front of the Wicker man, for brawling, but machetes and hatchets can be found if you go looking for them, molotovs and pipe bombs can be found on top of the water tower and RPGs can be found in hard to reach places, that can’t be escaped from once reached. A good fun fight, though perhaps the pipe bombs may be a little too easy to reach.

BATTLE PLANET by SLOBBER--DOG

A four team multi-level arena with Technicals, a couple of jets and motorbikes. RPGs and sniper rifles can be found on the top level and assault rifles are scattered about. The boosts on the large ramps can be a liability for both players on bikes or on the back of the technicals, which resulted in several suicides. Also, might be worth making it jj proof as the squeaker hid underneath the platforms and dragged the already stupidly long rounds out. Make the rounds 8 minutes max, preferably six minutes as players will inevitably quit if they repeatedly die quickly and have to watch for ten minutes per round -I know they don’t in our events, but randoms are far more fickle.


BLIND SNIPER by Obiwan_Kendo

Sniper battle between two aerial platforms, with limited cover except that afforded by the sometimes bulletproof bushes that are lined up at the front of either platform. The sniper pickups are right at the front and a few miniguns and a grenade launcher are available for those daring enough to go for them. I can’t really fault this one, as it works as it was intended, rounds are a good length, weapon pickups are good.

4 team panto demo derby above Fort Zancudo, with molotovs and melee weapons. Tubes have been added that give one about 50 seconds to get back into the arena if you get knocked to the ground, but only if you don’t slip up on the way back. Gas tanks are arranged around the edges, that one can reverse into or knock opponents into to blow them up. Barricades around the arena allow one to get out of you vehicle and collect ammo or throw molotovs from a good vantage. Another fun LTS from KOBICrewLeadR

My own creation that seems to work well in FA or AA. Obviously the open spaces can be a hindrance, but I have provided some cover and caves. Any feedback appreciated.
