Best of RaceWars and WORC events

The above post details the format and rules for Season 3 of World Off-Road Championship. Post your feedback about Season 3 and any changes you would like to see for Season 4. Here are my thoughts and proposed changes for Season 4

World Off-Road Championship season 4 Changes.

Bi-Weekly Schedule
I plan on Launching Season 4; Tuesday, October 11th/Thursday, October 13th.
The biggest change to WORC is it will now be a Bi-Weekly event instead of Weekly. Off-Road & Rally tracks and creators is too niche to continually sustain a weekly event. The biggest amount of my time organizing this event is searching for and testing Off-Road and Rally tracks suitable for the event. I’m always scrapping the bottom of the barrel for high quality tracks each week. Bi-Weekly will give me more time to find High quality tracks to use. The event thread can also be posted a week prior to give creators more time to put finishing touches on there tracks if needed. On the off weeks, I will fill the time slot with a new Bi-weekly event I’m proposing. A Best of Racewars and WORC event. More details on that event later.

Event Format
Season 3 was two playlists of 10 tracks and 8 rounds with a best of the season round at the end. Based on feedback from season 2, Players wanted less tracks and more laps. Season 3 was reduced to 10 tracks from 12 and lap times increased to 7-8 minutes per track. How does everyone like the 10 track format of 7-8 minutes each? Is it too long or just right? Or would you rather go back to 12 tracks of 5-6 minutes each?

I think I will reduce the rounds to 6 for Season 4. Since it is now Bi-weekly. 6 Rounds will take about 3 months to finish the season.

Event Time
American Event: Tuesdays with theicide @ 7 PM PDT (Wed. 3 AM BST)
European Event: Thursdays with KM86REDDEVIL @ 6 PM BST (10 AM PDT)
How’s this schedule worked for everyone? There’s probably no better times to do the event. The GCCC Event Calendar is pretty packed. The schedule has worked pretty well on my end.

Points System
For Season 3 I came up with a new points system. Points were awarded to the top 5 Lap times ranging from 7 to 2 points to those that didn’t use blacklisted vehicles and finished the course. I also gave 1 point to anyone else that finished the course in a non-blacklisted vehicle. I think the points system did a good job of awarding the fastest racers and awarding those who attended the event regularly. It also discouraged the use of blacklisted vehicles.

The one thing I would like to change to the points for Season 4. I will require that you have participated in at least 5 tracks to qualify for points for that event. I think it is pointless to keep track of randoms who only join a couple races and never join the event again. The tail end of the leaderboard is filled with many single digit points of irregular players.

Blacklisted Vehicles
I’m pretty satisfied with the current blacklisted vehicles. I have no new suggestions there. Discuss any changes you would like see to blacklisted vehicles.

Any other changes to WORC I haven’t covered. Please post your thoughts.


Best of Racewars and WORC event
I’m planning on Launching Round 1, Tuesday October 4th/Thursday October 6th. and Bi-Weekly afterwards. This will fill the empty Time Slots of the off-weeks of the Bi-Weekly WORC event. I will take the top voted tracks from RaceWars and WORC. It will be a championship of the best of the best pure race tracks that GCCC members have to offer.

Event Title
I’m leaning toward calling the event “Pure Race Champions”. Here’s a list of other possible suggestions. I also included possible hashtag suggestions. Submit your suggestion or vote for your favorite.

Event Format
Each round will be 2 playlists of 6 tracks each. 8 tracks will be top voted tracks from Racewars and 4 tracks will be top voted tracks from WORC. All tracks will be raced Non-Contact when possible. Laps adjusted to 5-6 minutes per track. Default settings for time and weather. Catch-up and slipstream will be off for contact races. I may change classes to keep playlists varied. There will be no vehicle restrictions or points awarded to racers. Voting will be done by posting your favorite tracks in order.

12 top voted tracks: 8 from Racewars, 4 from WORC. Top 3 from this round go to Round 5.

Round 2
12 top voted tracks: 8 from Racewars, 4 from WORC. Top 3 from this round go to Round 5.

Round 3
12 top voted tracks: 8 from Racewars, 4 from WORC. Top 3 from this round go to Round 5

Round 4
12 top voted tracks: 8 from Racewars, 4 from WORC. Top 3 from this round go to Round 5

Round 5: Best of Season 1
12 Tracks: Top 3 tracks from each of the 4 Rounds. Top 3 from this round go to the All-Stars Round

Season 2
Same format as Season 1

Season 4
Same format as Season 1

GCCC’s All-Stars Round 1
12 tracks: Top 3 tracks from each of Season 1-4. Top 3 tracks from this round will be crowned as GCCC’s Pure Race All-Stars.

Series 2:
Same format as Series 1.

Voting
To vote you must play all tracks from the event on your own or participate in the event. Post your votes to the event thread and you must vote by ranking a minimum of 3 tracks to a Maximum of 5 Tracks. Voting will close one week after the event. Tracks will be given the following points:

1st pick: 5 Points
2nd pick: 4 Points
3rd pick: 3 Points
4th pick: 2 Points
5th pick: 1 Point

Points will be tallied after voting has closed and the Top 3 tracks will be crowned. Top 3 tracks will go to Round 5 to battle against the top 3 tracks from each of the 4 rounds. Top 3 tracks from each of the 4 season finals will go to the All-Star Finals. Top 3 tracks from the All-Stars finals will be crowned GCCC All-Stars.

Event Nominees and Results
I will create a thread in the Share forum. I will compile a database of all nominees from RaceWars and WORC. Nominees should appear in the event about a month after they won the RaceWars or WORC events. This will give creators time to put any finishing touches to there tracks before appearing in this event. Also the thread for the event will be posted a week prior for a final notice.

Results from each event will be posted in the event thread and the nominee thread.

Photo Submissions.
I’m accepting submissions of GTA Race action Screenshots for both events. I’m looking for a new Off-Road Action screenshot to be used as event header for Season 4 WORC. Also would like a Screenshot for the Pure Race Champions that show both Street Racing and Off-Road Racing in one photo (Collage).

Any other Feedback or Suggestions for either event is much appreciated.

I thought champions better implied they were the best pure races. Showcase to me just implies a general showing off of pure races. It is however a championship focused on the creations and not the racers. Points are giving to the tracks through voting. You don't have to participate in the event to vote. Just play the tracks on your own and cast your votes. I want as many voters as possible.
Maybe someone can come up with a name that better implies this a competition of the best tracks and not a competition of the best racers.

I'm with agrajag on the naming. The clearer the better. It might not sound soooo sexy but everybody should easily understand what this is about.

Really I would like to keep the 6pm start time on Thursdays, just alter the start time of the last Thursday of every month. But if it is awkward to do so I understand. Everything you suggested for Worc season 4 looks good, in my opinion though I would like to revert back to 5-6 minute tracks as I think the people voting for the layout of 7-8 minute tracks for season 3 didn't really attend this season. And in the beginning of season 3 it felt as if the longevity of some tracks acted as a deterrent for most that raced round 1-2 not to race round 3-4. That being said in these later stages I'm not sure whether it's the new prop tracks bringing the people back or the enjoyment of the event, but they seem to be enjoying the later rounds. Even a few close friends that didn't like offroad have been really enjoying it and looking forward to the next round. I agree that the attendees should have to participate in majority of the event to qualify for points, as it was unfair on you to do so much work that went unappreciated by most. When it came to the blacklisted cars in most cases it did work, just when it came to the sedan races, nobody pays any attention to the rules even the more respectable racers and it is almost everytime the V12.


When it comes to the new mixed event, pure Races/offroad races. The name "Pure Race Showcase" has a nice ring to it.
