Season 3 World Off-Road Championship Changes?

The post above is what season 2 looked like.  I would like to hear feedback about the event up until now and what changes should be implemented for season 3.  How can we make the event more appealing and accessible?  I'm taking a week or two off from the event before season 3 starts.  I will be on vacation next week and want to figure out where the event should go from here before launching season 3.  Here's some ideas I have and more info about the poll.

Event Time:  last two seasons the event has run on Sunday's at 3 PM BST with a US Rerun Tuesday 6:30 PM PDT after Smooth Killing.  Sunday's event has had up and down attendance.  The US rerun was generally low.  In the poll there are suggestions for 2 hours later on sunday, earlier on tuesday between Newest stunts and Smooth Killing or later on tuesday to avoid overlap with Smooth Killing.  There has also been a suggestion of thursday evening before sunday skool or moving sunday skool back to sunday and putting WORC in it's place on thursday.  Post any other suggestions.

Points: season 2 point system was sign up only.  To qualify for points you must not use blacklisted vehicles.  Points were awarded for fastest lap times.  Vote in the poll if there should be points.  if points continue for season 3 there is no sign up for points.  everyone that doesn't use a blacklisted vehicle will qualify. Here are 3 suggestions for points for season 3.

Suggestion A:  Points awarded to the top 5 fastest lap times for each track.  Must not use blacklisted vehicle to qualify.
                      1st:  7 points
                      2nd: 5 Points
                      3rd: 4 Points
                      4th: 3 Points
                      5th: 2 Points
                      All other finishers: 1 Point
                      DNF or using blacklisted vehicle: 0 Points

Suggestion B:  1 Point is awarded to the fastest lap for each track only.  Must not use blacklisted vehicle.

Suggestion C:  Fastest lap points are only awarded for the top 3 voted tracks in each round.  All other tracks, points don't apply.  Could be the top 5 like suggestion A or just the fastest lap like suggestion B.

Playlists: Season 1 was two playlists of 7 tracks.  Season 2 was two playlists of 6 tracks.  Top 3 voted tracks moved to the next round and replayed in the rain.  All new tracks would be played with noon/clear settings unless otherwise set by the creator.  Should we continue with 6 tracks with laps about 5-6 minutes per track or drop it down to 5 tracks with laps increased to about 7-8 minutes per track.

Blacklisted Vehicles:  Season 2 blacklisted vehicles for points included;
No Sanchez in Off-Road class (unless locked to sanchez)
No Schafter or V12 in Sedan Class
Sultan RS is the only Super allowed

for season 3;
Motorcycles class will have all street bikes blacklisted.  You can only use Sanchez, Enduro, Blazer, BF400, Gargoyle or Cliffhanger.
Supers will allow 2 slower supers in addition to the Sultan RS.  Sultan RS, Voltic or Bullet.
Off-Road class will also blacklist the new BF400 bike in addition to the Sanchez.


Post any other suggestions or ideas.

AJ I appreciate that bud. Goes without saying the event wouldn't work with out the crews great tracks - that you've hugely contributed with.

I agree about the less tracks things aswell. I think when I first suggested the event I was naive to things like running out of tracks and how large/small the pool was.

After a couple months of running the event it was obvious less tracks more laps was a better format, especially with the Laptime aspect.

Ive also started to think it would be better suited focusing on the creators more than the racers, so instead of complicated points leaderboards for racers, who largely don't seem bothered (I still havnt properly recovered from doing season 1 points totals every week, I shudder at Google spreadsheets now) it maybe should be more about extensive reviews, from hosts and participants, feedback for improvements, the creator finals, bringing winning tracks forward every week, building an offroad database and introducing a better voting system for the tracks - all races gettong an out of 5 points system instead of just picking 4 favourite tracks perhaps.

The rerun is the only GCCC event that is run during the evening in the U.S., that's what makes it so appealing to me. I know attendance isn't huge, but it's not terrible either. (except for last night when I could only wrangle up 3 people, sorry )

I agree with AJ that there may be a saturation point for offroad tacks. I think less tracks per PL, more laps track would keep it fresh. I also like the top vote getters being rerun in the rain the following week.

Points tables are a ton of work, particularly for this event since it takes in best times over the course of two days. I appreciate all of the work that goes into it. I'm in this for the fun, but my competitive nature takes over once I start paying attention to the scores. If there's no points at stake I'll be more likely to switch up my cars from track to track, and much less likely to rage. Whatever you decide on the points is fine by me. I voted for suggestion A, but will have just as much fun if points are scrapped all together.

I decided to allow 2 slower supers to be included in the points for those that don't own or don't want to use a Sultan RS.  Voltic and Bullet can also qualify for points.  Also added the new BF400 to the blacklist for Off-Road class.  But can be used in motorcycle races or when Locked.

I plan on starting season 3 next week Tuesday July 26th, 7 PM PDT (Wed. 3 AM BST). 30 minutes later to give smooth killing more breathing room.  KM86REDDEVIL is willing to host the euro-friendly rerun on Thursday's @ 7PM BST.

I will go with 2 playlists of 5 tracks.  Up to 8 minutes per track.

I still haven't decided on the points.  But I'm leaning towards suggestion A as being the most fair and competitive.

Let me know if there is any objections.

Clip making starts at 8PM BST so might do with one hour earlier on the grindhouse thursday?

For Sunday Skool that is exactly 2 hours to do your event? Is that enough time?
