Many, many races are created using GTA's content creator but how many are actually suitable to be raced in that most pure and realistic of ways, with contact turned ON? After many months and many 1000's of races later we still find it extremely difficult to establish which races are truly suitable for a contact racing playlist so I propose an ongoing project where we nominate races that can then be reviewed by enthusiasts purely on the basis of their suitability for contact racing, taking into account important factors such as grid size and layout, appropriate propping and track width. Let's NOT consider races made for banger or demolition derby style purposes as very often these are made on unsuitable areas purely to cause as much chaos and destruction as possible. Let's solely focus on those races that are supposed to allow some exciting pack racing that could be used for endurance races, multi-tiered events and other such purposes if it were so desired.
I'll start the ball rolling in the next thread with a selection of tracks I feel are suitable that have been featured in past RaceWars events.
As far as submission criteria goes, I'm pretty sure that those of you that will partake in this know exactly what we're looking for, but let's try and establish some sort of a basic checklist for what would qualify a race as 'contact approved':
- Appropriate medium sized grid. Ideally 2 car widths but 3 can also be acceptable.
- No sudden or unexpected propping, including narrow chicanes or needlessly cluttered areas. These elements can be suitable if they are appropriately signposted and not designed so as to cause a potential bottleneck in the result of a racing incident.
- Feature roadways that for the majority comfortably accommodates close racing. Narrow sections are permissible if they are clearly marked and flow appropriately, but areas such as alleyways and other hazard-strewn locations are strictly off-limits.
- Minimum of 20 players. This means only PS4 created jobs are eligible.
Let's try to make this a conversational back and forth environment, shall we? Feel free to suggest your nominations and put forward you case regarding it's merits, but then others can chirp in with their own opinions as well until we can reach a magic number of 'YES' votes, let's say 4, for it to become officially 'contact approved'. I'll keep the OP updated with the tracks as and when we agree on their suitability for the cause and hopefully this can serve as a great starting point for the myriad of race crews out there who may be looking for something new to sample via our crew.
Any other suggestions feel free to add them below and let's try to build up a top quality catalogue of suitable PS4 contact races created by GCCC members! I've tagged a few members into this opening post who I think may participate the most.
