Hello dear community of fellow-creators, and creative ppl in general!
My name is Herbie, my PSN handle is honderdzeventien, meaning the number 117 written in letters. I'm playing GTAO for over a decade now, initially on PS3, untill they closed it down, and on the PS4 since that day.
On the 3 the GTAO community was very creative, especially cause there wasn't much content by the 5 original heists, the Madrazzo and Gerald stuff, the races, and some other stuff. So to keep the game interesting ppl created lots of content. Everyone had at least one race track on their name cause with that you'd distinguish yourself, like showing a business card.
One thing I will never forget, nor forgive Rockstar for doing is, when they flipped the switch, so to speak, and turned off GTAO on the PS3, they erased and removed literally ALL user created content, made by players who could never or would never migrate their accounts to the 4.
I won't claim they were all masterpieces, but still, by that destructive act they practiced the digital equivalent of a German "Weimar republic" style bookburning, or burning down a museum, or something like that. That's my opinion at least.
...
Okay, with that out of the way, we can return to our succumbed Stockholm syndrome style mindset towards that billion dollar company, which is likely owned mainly by hedge funds if you look at the ways they've been catering to them with every dlc dropped in the past 6+ years.
But we're stuck. There just isn't any serious competition, no game offers such a wide variety of games within one realm, so they're capable. Very good. (Insert Nancy Pelosi applauding Trump after his first SOU here)
The social fabric on the 4 is way tighter, and way more vibrant. That really is a big plus. I've founded a crew, initially just for myself, as anyone who wants a car with a unique colour does, but since I'm also a freelance designer (next to being a DJ/musician, fine art painter, sculptor and writer) and the logo I came up with turned out to have fallen in fertile ground.
When I discovered Hotring racing I was sold, and when I got invited to race on custom hotring tracks through "it-was-Patricia" (as she was named then, and to whom I am forever grateful for introducing me to that niche) I started seeing lots of crews, and their stylings, and their logo's.
That inspired me to make that crew into a Dutch speaking crew. Only thing was that there weren't enough Dutch riders to raise a solid base of members. At the same time a really enthusiastic Belgian guy, Flamish speaking of course, joined in, and We decided it could as well be a "Benelux NASCAR Crew", and that's what it's becoming. I came up with the logo, crew colour, and the BETR acronym, because of course, and I believe it hadn't been taken before.
I could talk on for hours, but I'm running late.
Zzzzz
