I didnt want to write this. I wasnt looking forward to this day. I was literally just bragging that no one could beat me in my Ivan Steelman's Off Road Series with anything but a Trophy Truck.

Then yesterday I tried the new Cayo Perico race series. One guy had a Draugur. It was my first time racing that track, so I was making a few mistakes, but could NOT stay up with him. Even the bikes couldnt keep up with him. I saw him make a few mistakes, and I got close, but couldnt catch him in 4 or 5 lap races. Fear came over me. Oh my, Rockstar may have finally done it. Did they finally make a Trophy Truck beater? I instantly went out and bought a new Draugur. I even checked if it had Hao mods, it did not. While my Trophy Truck is set at max height, standard suspension height, I lowered the Draugur one notch to test it two races. It confirmed all my worst fears. I then lifted it back up to stock suspension. After it slayed Ivan Steelman Race 1 & 2, I took it to my speed and brake test track. I tested it versus the Trophy Truck, here are the results.

2.5 Mile Course Speed Test
Trophy Truck 47.080
Draugur 45.095
While it doesnt seem to have a much higher Top speed, testing in actual race conditions confirms its superior acceleration vs the Trophy Truck.
2 Mile Course Brake Test
After getting the vehicle up to top speed, at the 2 mile mark, you slam the brakes to full stop.
Trophy Truck 10.5 Car Lengths
Draugur 7.5 Car Lengths
The Draugur is literally a bigger longer truck, and DAMN!
The Ivan Steelman series was created for the Rebel truck, and its sexy Marty McFly looks. Then the day the Trophy Truck came out and dominated it in ever way. But, the Trophy Truck actually resembled the trucks used in the arcade game I based this series and track layouts off of, Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Off Road.

Ivan Steelman Series Highlight Reel
The Draugur looks ok. But its not as sexy as the Trophy Truck IMO
The Testing:
The Rebel used to have a ramp advantage in its day, in that its springs perfectly boosted off the ramps. The Trophy Truck has that ability as well, as if it hits an extra Turbo Boost just hitting a ramp. So many times in other vehicles stiffer suspensions really kill that liftoff feeling. While the Draugur doesnt quite have that same exact springy feeling, its acceleration in short leadups to the ramps make it jump a tad farther than the Trophy Truck does, and this is at max height stock suspension settings. That is really its only "flaw". The handling, oh my God the handling, it has a super sexy tight ass, that will NOT stepout on an experienced driver. Its tighter than the Trophy Truck on well known sections across the series when you whip the ass out and bring it back. In sections where I know the long grass conceals the bumpy ground and I know I have to feather the throttle to get through while other vehicles flip over, the Draugur powers through those sections with much more stability and less throttle feathering. The Trophy Truck really likes to flip over if you cant handle it, the Draugur thinks he's the mother effing Knight Rider in Ski Mode, because you can literally get this beast on two wheels, barely lift and bring it back down on its wheels. Most times you get on two wheels in the Trophy, you are going to flip it. Ivan Steelman tracks are known for medium deep water made to sink bikes. Race 14 features the most water, and the Draugur powers through it no problems. Very good torque. Draugur is just a BEAST. It can complete Race 12 in 3 seconds faster the the Trophy Truck that usually gets 45 second lap times there. Steering ratio seems to be the same, if not a few notches better than the Trophy, despite being a slightly longer wheelbase. I tested that in a section of Race 13 where the Draugur didnt get as dangerously close to the edge on a 90 deg fast turn over the quarry. Usually everything released has a weakness somewhere, usually too tight, doesnt turn as well when it has better speed. But the Draugur has it ALL! Added bonus, in free roam, it will literally EAT low profile vehicles as you Hulk Smash their candy asses like Bigfoot.
Pour one out for my Homey Trophy Truck, who I can never use in a public off road race again, if Im trying to win anyways. It was a Great Run Good Boah!
Sincerely,
Ivan Steelman
