RaceWars returns this week with some changes and new additions to its ever-evolving structure, hopefully designed to attract an even wider range of players to step behind the wheel!

ELIMINATION ROUND!

After it's successful début during RaceWars 28, the 'destroy last place' race mode will become a regular addition to the RaceWars repertoire, with fortnightly playlists specifically cultivated to provide the craziest, most insanely crash-filled and explosive race experiences on tracks created by our crew! These will always be the first playlist run of the night so hopefully this can help us to race with full lobbies as those who don't really enjoy the more serious side of racing can at least participate in all out carnage, mayhem and fun where winning is not the be all and end all it's cracked up to be!

CONTACT RACING

For season 4, Playlist 3 of the event will ALWAYS be run in full-contact mode (slipstream and catchup OFF, naturally) to enjoy racing the way it, ideally, is meant to be. That means fair play, with a general racers etiquette expected of ALL participants! Anyone deemed to be deliberately ramming or causing a nuisance will have their race standings invalidated and repeat offenders will NOT be allowed to participate in the contact race playlist in future! All that said, by this time of the evening it's usually the regulars who are left and I'm pretty certain we can trust them to play fair!

Also, as per jimbob9699 suggestion, 16 player races will be accepted to be featured in this final playlist as I don't anticipate this being a particularly restrictive number this late in the evening, however we'll have to see how it pans out week to week.

CAR MEETS

From season 4 the pre-lobby will be open half an hour earlier, from 7PM GMT, with the themed car meets happening during the initial 45 minutes to an hour before the start of Playlist 1. This means that if you don't want to sit around and behave for up to an hour then DON'T join the pre-lobby until around 7:45PM when I will put out a 'last call' via the

SC messaging system. Too many of our previous car meets have been spoilt by a small number of impatient players running around causing trouble, constantly moving vehicles without being asked to and generally just behaving like jackasses so hopefully this change will mean that our car meets, whilst potentially smaller, will be a lot more organized and disciplined!

Let me know what you guys think of these additions and if you have any further suggestions then please, do send them my way!

Due to an alarming gap in the GCCC calendar for more pure style races derived from actual motorsport events, I am going to be hosting an official racing event EVERY Sunday evening at 7.30PM GMT, entitled ‘RaceWars’. The aim of this event is to provide a fantastic exposure of the thousands of awesome racetracks out there, encompassing a vast range of vehicles from humble sedans and dirty off-road buggies to the most desirable classics and million dollar exotica every man (or woman) dreams of owning in his (or her) garage. This event will encompass styles and disciplines as diverse as Rallying, GT1/GT2, Touring Cars, Import Tuners, Off-road, Moto X, Superbikes, Hill-Climbing, One-Make series’ and much, much more, a must play for any self-respecting petrol head!

Each week I shall host THREE playlists of FIVE jobs each, which may or may not be themed to fit a specific style. ALL playlists shall be comprised of 30 player jobs and I shall open a pre-lobby at 7:30pm GMT to gather players, with the actual first playlist being launched at 8PM GMT.

Although GCCC members will get first priority I will open the playlist lobbies up to non-members once the GCCC players are in session if crew numbers are not sufficient, by way of allowing the client invites to be used to invite racers not rocking the GCCC crew tag to the event as there are a lot of racers and race crews out there that could benefit from an introduction to our ways. :-)

IMPORTANT FINAL MESSAGE: Race fairly! Obviously, collisions can and will occur, some races will be run in 'standard' mode and I may even include the odd demolition derby/banger race too, but by and large I want to see FAIR and CLEAN racing from ALL participants. This means NO deliberate ramming or pit-maneuvering and try to avoid 'sponging' off others to get around tight corners. I reserve the right to eject ANYONE from the event who I deem to be a repeat offender and with

iffy servers we know that if you get kicked midway through a playlist you're unlikely to get back in, so you have been warned!

This sounds awesome! We were racing contact with GCCC in Jose's driver's Ed event. Granted, we didn't have too many people, (Less is more, when it comes to conntact imo) Seeing as there's usually less people who stick around for PL3, do you reckon non-30 player races would be allowed? It could be risky as you may have more people interested

Also, I would recommend avoiding certain things from the contact playlist. Such as: Small grids, with anything other than bikes and Pantos, crossovers (unless, chaos is the theme, in which case it's probably more suited to the destroy last place races) and tight alleyways.

Yeah, my thought exactly, it always ends up by the final playlist that there are less people so I would probably say we can accept 16 player races for this final playlist.

When submitting races for the event it would be good if you could specify whether it's suitable for contact or not so I can assign it to a suitable playlist.

Clearly the lure of all those shiny new games is too great at this time because attendance was well down from usual, so much so that I started the contact racing playlist first! Thankfully we had a better turnout for PL2 which was the fun-filled 'elimination' round and it was nice to see some players who don't normally attend appreciating the change of pace and a chance to race with a little less intensity and a little more randomness thrown into the mix!

The colour-coded car meet didn't really happen and as a result the themed car meets are no longer a part of RaceWars going forward. I personally have lost a great deal of enthusiasm now we've done these (with mixed results) for a whole season and feel that it's pretty much run it's course. Of course, if you still want to have impromptu car meets in the pre-lobby (from next week reverting back to the usual 7.30PM opening time) then go right ahead but by and large the pre-lobbies will just serve as a gathering point before the first playlist which will start at 8PM sharp! Latecomers will have to try and join midway through the session as we waste far too much time catering to the stragglers!

The Magic Roundabout by AJ

Manic demolition derby centred around a familiar sight to European road users, this is an interesting twist on a classic banger race and worked really well with 'Sedan's' and destroy last place settings. Lot's of carnage and collisions galore around the central section which led to some big laughs and a few unfortunate eliminations. I was in 2nd place for a long while but when bawb0824 exploded near me my car felt the impact and I had to nurse it around the remainder of the race spewing black smoke from it's bonnet! I managed to just about avoid exploding by finishing the race in 4th mere moments before the timer expired.

Le Slatform by Frezyys

Hilarious concept, pairing the vehicle with the worst braking on the game with an unprotected sky track yields predictably devastating results! I fell off a couple of times early on but then got into a nice groove just remembering to break early and steer smoothly and ended up fighting for a top 6 finish til' the very end!

Destroy Last Place: Panto by jamiejohnward

Slightly questionable vehicle choice considering the design but fun nonetheless although quite frustrating if you fail one of the MANY jumps on the lower section when you collide with another player which ultimately saw me eliminated in 8th place when I hit jager1381 's stationary car he'd abandoned to leg it to the next checkpoint! The top section provides a decent challenge although the props used to provide obstacles on the boost section are quite difficult to see, perhaps you could use something a little easier to spot? To be fair a big problem is that the boost pick-ups obscure the view of these obstacles although I understand why you placed them and, as a troll race at least, this one works great.

Demolition Derby 8 Track by atheistsw

Oh the indignity. Eliminated first on my own track after re-spawning due to a massive chain reaction of explosions that I was caught up in right at the start! Forced to spectate the whole race, I was disappointed to see that the exploded corpses of eliminated players didn't litter the track in this mode, yet when a player disconnects in a non-contact race their car turns solid and starts driving back towards the racing pack!

logic at it's finest.

A really great race that works perfectly for DLP, the 15 laps simply flew by and I was annoyed to be eliminated near the end because my car managed to flip over the side of the barrier down to the highway below, losing me places, time and, ultimately, my life in a fireball of regret.

Why oh why did I choose to use my standard Jester on this one? I had a Massacro Racecar sitting in the garage and made a BIG mistake, this twisty circuit needs something with sharp braking but also straight-line speed for the looooong straight section towards the end and, combined with a couple of crunching accidents that ruined my vehicles handling characteristics too early in the race I was lucky not to DNF. I do like the track though, very reminiscent of that ex-

classic 'Through The Grapevine'.

Orchard XS by rodo77

A lovely little track well propped to provide a unique aura of racing through a tree-lined forest, compacts are a good match although they do feel a little slow on the dirt tracks. Agree with jimbob9699 that the ramp section could be widened as this is by far the section that causes players the most issues and requires some careful approach work on exit of the downhill right-hander so as not to get hung up on the ridge nearby. I was horrified to see Mandible_Claw- pip me for 4th right at the death with the most drawn out overtaken maneuver in RaceWars history!

Airport Roulette by docmedpot

Always love racing this one, two sharp hairpins punctuated by a tension-filled speedway through the narrow airport concourse section gloriously illuminated by the airport signage. Had a brilliant battle with jager1381 for the entire race for the lead but couldn't quite find that extra bit of speed to get past him. Having raced this so many times I can attest that the destructible barriers do more harm than good and, as we're on motorcycles, the poles are not really worth protecting anyway.

Malibu GP Circuit by @ferguson99 (AKA STIFLER--013)

Putting aside the odd checkpoint placement on this track I can say this is a really fun racetrack that flows brilliantly (once you know where you're going) and worked excellently in 'Sports Classics'. There is a section as you come around the hotel before the final wide hairpin turn that features a couple of needless tyre barriers in a V-shape but aside from that it's pretty decent. Really liked the final chicane before the start/finish line, flat-out with these cars but probably more challenging in something a little faster. Used my Pigalle and earned a 6th place finish amongst a sea of Stirling GT's, although infuriatingly pipped for 5th by the higher top speed of jager1381 's Z-Type.

TRL Monroe/Carbo/TurismoR by mrmellow

What more to say other than a PS3 classic is re-propped for the next-gen and is better than ever! Lots of run-off provided on the exit of corners is very welcome, although perhaps the hairpin with the tyre stack could be slightly amended as I also got caught on it on one of the laps, maybe just push it inwards a bit so it's not sticking out or perhaps place a flag instead/as well, for the visual aid? In any case I thoroughly enjoyed my race on this one and took a well-earned 3rd place after a near-flawless run.

Some brief feedback for the races played last night. I think there should be 2 non rage tracks in the Elimination Pls, those being 0.62s and the long hauls. (if we must play the long haul tracks that is).

Very well made DB track. Tried racing clean, by the end, I was like “f*ck it.” My Primo didn’t have the horse power to shove crashed cars out of my way, unfortunately.

I’d suggest removing the trees on the first corner, got in the way of my view a few times. Nice track, nice premise too. How many platforms did you use btw?

Pull the run up CP for the wall climb back? Maybe, add more Cps within the first barge section? Although, I’ll try not to question the logic in what is obviously a trolly race.

Destruction Derby 8 Track by atheistsw

Straight forward destruction derby 8 track. Why is Rat Truck the default? You’ve got to be a madman to want to use that. I think the most suited car should be default. However, as mentioned before, why question the logic of something that clearly isn’t serious.

Favourite Race of the Playlist, and one of, if not my favourite 0.62. Would like it if the eliminate last place PLs would feature any tracks with less than 35 seconds per lap, (plenty of 0.62s and TRLs to choose from) with cranked up laps in the future. I believe with eliminate last place on, it activates when first place starts their next lap.

Mountain Stage R1 by jameznash

One of the best tracks around this area that I’ve played! Checkpoints could be a bit neater, wasn’t a huge fan of the small checkpoint. However, all of this is negligible and this race has found a place in my BMs. I played it earlier though and noticed it has non-contact default? It’s suitable for contact racing.

A nice off road track for compacts. Maybe, make the ramp a bit wider though.

Airport Roulette by docmedpot

Nice little airport track for bikes. However, the destructible barriers. should go, they cause more issues than leaving the lamp pole unprotected.

Malibu GP Circuit by STIFLER—013

I liked the route. Checkpoints worked. Propping was very unforgiving. The chicane didn’t warrant that many tyre stacks, they were sticking out too. I didn’t even come near the kerb, and it caught me.

TRL Monroe/Carbo/TurismoR by mrmellow

I did enjoy this track a lot. However, the tyre stacks didn’t suit some of the very tight corners. Particularly the one at CP10, (after the darts place.by the satellites). Considering no prop glitching was used at all, I was quite impressed.

[PS4] Hugh Jazz' by some12hate

I think the chicane at the start could have been marked a bit clearer. CP 26, 30 and maybe 61 (can’t remember, looking at map on SC) are negligible in this instance. While the track itself was fine, I think the longer tracks, such as this one and “You name it” would be better with destroy last place on. Otherwise, they’re too long.

El Burnout Burro by jimbob-STROUD

I gave it a complete re-prop and a little re-route when I found out this was going to be in Racewars, was happy with the result. I realised that the platforms at the downhill left-hander, by El Burro heights was probably too low, I’ve since put containers on top, so you won’t ramp off the track of you get the corner wrong. I’m not sure about the lack of a prop on the 2nd corner. You won’t miss the CP if you don’t touch the median, you even get to cut the median, and still hit the CP. However, I;m unsure about the practice of letting people make their judgement about the CP boundaries.

Simple track for Muscles. Not much to say here tbh. It worked well.

I think the starting grid was too wide, I also think the tyre walls should be merged. Also, I don’t understand why you’ve put an obstacle in the middle of the track. (pitlane?)

Very long track. Can’t remember it too well, as there was so much, and only 1 lap. However, I’d avoid using fences as apex props (too high) and the last CP can be missed.

Contact PL will be a thing every week, usually last PL of the night but, if what happened the other day repeats, it'll be run first instead. I'll have a backup 16 player job PL that we can run if the numbers allow it and a 30 player 'priority' PL that will run otherwise. If the 30 player one get's bumped then it'll feature the following week instead.

Also, I'm going to revert back to a 7.30PM start for the pre-lobby from next week as it's really not worth me opening the lobby an hour before the event. The themed car meets have kind of run their course I feel, there's less enthusiasm for them from people (myself included tbh) and if people want to arrange an impromptu car meet in the pre-lobby then they can but by and large, the pre-lobby is a gathering point for players and half an hour is ample time for players to join if they want to take part.

And the hidden barriers on the return first floor are there to slow the cars down a bit, the idea was that the top floor takes a bit longer to get up to - even if the pay off is better - but it was thrown in last minute the day before FP420F and may need a different way of making the choice of return path more equal.

Definitely need to lower that checkpoint as well on the wall, utter carnage with a bigger lobby!

The race was designed for Destroy Last Place so I didn't want to many checkpoints on the bottom level so that last place changed more often than not.

Although, after watching Jager's stream and seeing him running to the checkpoints (!! :-D) I need to raise the entire structure now!

) and braking early was key here. Really enjoyed the battle with Jim :-)

Very Bouncy and fun to drive around. Had a hard time respawning at the checkpoint at the wallride/halfpipe, somehow ended up glitching inside the barge. Gave up after 4/5 tries

Great track, felt like I missed some CP's/i was going the wrong way a couple of times during the first lap. A bit tight here and there, but a great track.

Pull the run up CP for the wall climb back? Maybe, add more Cps within the first barge section? Although, I’ll try not to question the logic in what is obviously a trolly race.

Straight forward destruction derby 8 track. Why is Rat Truck the default? You’ve got to be a madman to want to use that. I think the most suited car should be default. However, as mentioned before, why question the logic of something that clearly isn’t serious.

Favourite Race of the Playlist, and one of, if not my favourite 0.62. Would like it if the eliminate last place PLs would feature any tracks with less than 35 seconds per lap, (plenty of 0.62s and TRLs to choose from) with cranked up laps in the future. I believe with eliminate last place on, it activates when first place starts their next lap.

One of the best tracks around this area that I’ve played! Checkpoints could be a bit neater, wasn’t a huge fan of the small checkpoint. However, all of this is negligible and this race has found a place in my BMs. I played it earlier though and noticed it has non-contact default? It’s suitable for contact racing.

A nice off road track for compacts. Maybe, make the ramp a bit wider though.

Airport Roulette by docmedpot

Nice little airport track for bikes. However, the destructible barriers. should go, they cause more issues than leaving the lamp pole unprotected.

Malibu GP Circuit by STIFLER—013

I liked the route. Checkpoints worked. Propping was very unforgiving. The chicane didn’t warrant that many tyre stacks, they were sticking out too. I didn’t even come near the kerb, and it caught me.

TRL Monroe/Carbo/TurismoR by mrmellow

I did enjoy this track a lot. However, the tyre stacks didn’t suit some of the very tight corners. Particularly the one at CP10, (after the darts place.by the satellites). Considering no prop glitching was used at all, I was quite impressed.

[PS4] Hugh Jazz' by some12hate

I think the chicane at the start could have been marked a bit clearer. CP 26, 30 and maybe 61 (can’t remember, looking at map on SC) are negligible in this instance. While the track itself was fine, I think the longer tracks, such as this one and “You name it” would be better with destroy last place on. Otherwise, they’re too long.

El Burnout Burro by jimbob-STROUD

I gave it a complete re-prop and a little re-route when I found out this was going to be in Racewars, was happy with the result. I realised that the platforms at the downhill left-hander, by El Burro heights was probably too low, I’ve since put containers on top, so you won’t ramp off the track of you get the corner wrong. I’m not sure about the lack of a prop on the 2nd corner. You won’t miss the CP if you don’t touch the median, you even get to cut the median, and still hit the CP. However, I;m unsure about the practice of letting people make their judgement about the CP boundaries.

Simple track for Muscles. Not much to say here tbh. It worked well.

I think the starting grid was too wide, I also think the tyre walls should be merged. Also, I don’t understand why you’ve put an obstacle in the middle of the track. (pitlane?)

Very long track. Can’t remember it too well, as there was so much, and only 1 lap. However, I’d avoid using fences as apex props (too high) and the last CP can be missed.

Already got rid of those fence props and fixed the last cp. I also put barges as barriers in certain areas such as coming down from the windmill in an attempt to get people going a certain way but seeing as this is a big race unfortunately I ran out of prop before I could figure out a solution to make the windmill path more clear.

Also to be fair jimbob "You Name It" was meant for endurance racing. Like a one off after event for those who like a bit of longetivity once in a while. While Destroy Last Place would be interesting, given the length between checkpoints and a bit of intentional difficulty would be truly enraging if they mess up.

On another note I was actually surprised that Mandibleclaw actually chose that one of my races for his RW playlist. I was pleasantly flattered a bit.

Still I'm a bit puzzled as to why that specific race. Oh well it worked out in the end so far

Speaking of which Frezzy did some work in that track. Even though I drove very very carefully Frezzy just pulled away giving zero f*cks about whether it was precarious hills, dirt sections, or winding twists. He just chugged along by. Hell if I was good at keeping track of times on that course I would say that your time that race was probably the fastest on that course.

- 22 Miles... JEEZ. This was pretty fun tbh. Ended up spinning out few times on the wind farm. Those blue barriers are a bit too high to use there, you can't really see the road, as Jimbob mentioned.
