Hi fellow Creators,
A few months ago the Ceo of Take two (owner of )announced that the micro transactions in GTA5 and the sale of Sharkcards was the way to go in the future. More of that, he said.
Quite a few GTA youtubers have discussed this and wondered if this might turn into a pay to win situation (Pariah). And what is reasonable to be paying for ingame content. (up to $90 real dollars in sharkcards for a single Airplane, more than the cost of the game itself)
Take two has gone way overboard and is squeezing this game for what its worth as long as it lasts. And so far its working exactly as they want. They are getting payed in spades.
In my humble opinion the creators in GTA5 are largely responsible for keeping this game full of fresh content. And partly to thank for sharkcard sales. Or do you believe players are buying overpriced cars to drive Rockstar Created BS races? The DLCs lately seem to cater more to sharkcard sales and the shareholders, than they do to the gamers.
Ofcourse we get our kicks and enjoyment from creating and we are not demanding a share of sharkcard sales. But I cant help feeling that the enormous creative value we add, goes unnoticed by Rockstar. Instead, the creator community is ignored. Random CS races verified, Gamebreaking glitches left unsolved, new glitches introduced with every moneymaker DLC, Continuos changing of creator rules rendering jobs useless or costing countless hours of work to correct, even mass deletion of jobs. I could go on. Many valuable creators have left the game because of lack of attention to the glitches or avoiding new ones. I have much love for this game but the current decision makers can't possibly be the same people that made this awesome game.
And then, to add insult to injury, they introduce a sharkcard prop!
And there are actually creators mindlessly using this prop and advertising for the very thing that is killing this the game for the creators.
So please, Don't just use the damn sharkcard prop like any other. Instead, use it to make a point. Albeit a very little one. I'm calling on all creators to install a 3 prop "demonument" in your job. Set a sharkcard on fire. Drown it. Blow it up. Textblimp that sucker. Be creative and have fun insulting the Extortionate piece of crap! Show your disdain with a smile. Be that drop in the bucket. And if you have done so, please add #DontbuyitBurnit to the tags of your job and take some snapmatics. Here's a little example in a recent job of mine:
(tusand tak The_MaD_MaMa for half of the tag!)
