enigmatim and I have been working on an idea - a GCCC community track design project for a grand prix race. Take a look at the attachment (picture - I can't get the damn thing to imbed - if anyone can help with that...). We've basically built a grand prix playground where we're hoping people will submit designs for their own course on the existing track. And if we get enough submissions, we can race them all in a playlist, with each race saved as its own race and credit to the designer given in the race description.
Here's the details:
1. Draw your course on the map, noting that the start grid is on the bottom right of the image, with a green arrow indicating the location and direction of the start grid, and submit the picture or map in the comments or in a message here. We don't care how you draw it, it just needs to be an image we can use to lay out the track. Note that the track is entirely level and all cross-overs and bleed-ins are built very precisely and error-free. Further, all tracks will utilize track walls along the route that you have specified. This helps block off parts of the track that will be unused and minimize confusion while racing. Here is a preview track that we built that gives you an idea of the track: T&A's Designer GP Preview
2. Provide the race details, such as class, contact specifications, GTA, etc.
3. Provide details of any *specific* props you would like to use. There are 48 props remaining that can be used in this race, but, again, since I will be building them, any additional props needs to be specific. A specific example would be like if you wanted a stunt tube to cover a portion of the track, draw it or indicate it somehow on the map.
4. Races will be named "T&A's Designer GP" and have a number after that, like #1A, 1B, etc. - we will let you know which race is yours. It will remain published so you could bookmark it and race it amongst friends or whatever you'd like.
5. We would be happy to test your race with you and make some specific changes based on that test - but let's not get crazy - we'll do our best. If this idea gains some traction, we think it would be cool to put submissions in a playlist and do a one-off event where everyone's race can be showcased!
6. There's no timetable for an event based on this yet - we're just spitballing and thought it would be cool for the community to gather around one track to see what people can come up with.
We look forward to your submissions and will contact you directly if you do submit!
