FIRST PERSON - BEGINNERS
Go to the "Settings" - “Controls” menu and make the following changes for optimal First Person Settings:
- Turn off “first person ragdoll” (if you are knocked down while in first-person, you will switch to third-person)
- Turn on “third person cover” (switch to third-person when you enter cover)
- Turn off “first person combat roll” (switch to a quick third-person shot when you roll, then return to first-person)
- Turn off “head bobbing” (gives the gameplay a smoother flow)
- When aiming click R3 to toggle between aiming methods (aiming down sight / with reticle)
FIRST PERSON - ADVANCED
Go to the "Settings" - “Controls” menu and make the following changes for optimal First Person Settings:
- Turn on “allow independent camera modes” (allows you to use different modes for different situations. One favored option is to play in first-person, but switch to third-person when you enter a vehicle)
- Change “first person control type” to the Standard FPS setting (gives you a controller setup similar to those used in common FPS games, such as sprinting with R3 or L3)
- Lower “first person look-around sensitivity” to the level you prefer (try a few and see which feels the best to you. Some prefer it all the way down)
- Lower “third person look-around sensitivity” (Some people find it ideal at around 40%)
- Put “first person aiming sensitivity” on its lowest setting (makes it slower and easier to aim when you aim down the sights, just like in FPS games.
- For “third person aiming sensitivity” you might prefer it to be slightly higher, at around 20%
- Put “first person aim/look deadzone” and "third person aim/look deadzone"on its lowest setting (minimizes the delay between your control input and its effect in the game)
- Put “first person aim/look acceleration” and “third person aim/look acceleration” on its highest setting (increases the responsiveness of the controls)
- Put “vehicle camera height” on its highest setting
- Turn off “auto level camera” (the camera will remain as you’ve positioned it, instead of automatically looking ahead when you move)
- Adjust “field of view” to the setting you’re most comfortable with (Lower settings will bring it closer to typical FPS fields of view, but you might prefer it higher)
FIRST PERSON - MISCELLANEOUS
- For First Person Racing: Make sure to choose a car that hasn't got tinted windows or a big ass engine popping out the top of your hood, so you'll have a clear view on all sides. If your car gets stuck or when you're disorientated you can press the circle button to quickly switch to 3rd person view and get out of that jam. However, it's highly recommended NOT to hold the circle button during a whole first person event (like our own GCCC's First Person 420 Friday event hosted by docmedpot ), because it ruins the first person experience and people might think of you as a try-hard
- Walking and shooting: The first person view gives you the ability to strafe and walk backwards more easily. This can be very useful in jobs with obstacle course elements in them as well.
- The dashboards and car interiors look amazing when you're in first person view. The speedometers actually work (e.g. the Insurgent) and some cars have car stereo displays that actually show the current radio station / song that is playing (e.g. the Carbonizzare).

- Third person aiming sensitivity: low (mine is 2 clicks off the bottom)
- Third person look-around sensitivity: subjective to the individual (rodo77's is maxed)
- Deadzone: 0
- Look acceleration: maxed
- Rest your finger on R2 (allows you to strafe an aim (movement is important in free-aim. wise, you're a sitting duck))
FREE AIM - ADVANCED
- Claw: This isn't a setting, but rather how you hold the controller. You'll rest your index finger on the X button, allowing you to strafe faster, while aiming. Then you press R2 with your middle finger. Your thumbs remain on the sticks.
- Standard FPS2: This moves the sprint button to R1 (as well as some other miscellaneous buttons). This means you can strafe faster by pressing R1 with your index finger, and R2 with your middle finger. You can still use your thumbs freely on the sticks.
- With L2 and sprint, you actually strafe faster than just resting your finger and R2, you also get better accuracy
