Dearest event hosts,
With a big move in progress, a small summary might help.
Moving topics over from the old forums
Use the HTML to BBCode converter to convert all the HTML from the old forums to BBCode! (or this)
If you have a word document you'd like to conver to html, do so with this.
The BBCode guide might also be helpful.
Check out the idea for event management thread.
It simply boils down to this:
Use posting templates for your event!
It is explained in the guides to joining/hosting events.
Once you made a posting template for your event it will only take you seconds to make a new topic the next week.
Use the countdown clock object!
It is explained in the guides to joining/hosting events.
(Replace the "/" at the beginning with "[")
/countdown:EVENT =DATE & TIME +/- TIMEZONE DIFFERENCE FROM UTC]Message appearing when countdown reached[/countdown]
f.e. For an event starting at midnight (UTC) August 2, 2022:
/countdown:Event #1=August 2 2022 00:00 PM -0]Hope everyone enjoyed!![/countdown]
f.e. For an event starting at midnight (British Summer Time, BST, UTC +1) August 2, 2022:
/countdown:Event #1=August 2 2022 00:00 PM +1]Hope everyone enjoyed!![/countdown]
(example countdown clock reached)
[countdown:Event #1=July 18 2015 02:30 AM ]Hope everyone enjoyed!![/countdown]
Use the Poll Option!
Make it clear that only people that attended the event should vote for the poll!
Best to add when your event edition has ended. Add a Poll to your topic with the job titles +/ creator (first button next to Subject text field). Best to set a maximum of votes (top 3 preferred). And a date when the poll closes (f.e. one week after the event took place)
Use the job emoticons!
The full list can be found here. But they are easily accessible through the smiley menu in the post area!
Hope you find them useful. Any feedback on these features is welcome!
I will tag all event hosts once the majority has joined the forums.

It simply boils down to this:
- Event Edition Voting Topic/Poll (f.e. "Event #1" DATE @ TIME): A topic/poll that should contain some of the following: Info about the event, link to review & submission topic (see below), links to previous editions, attendees, job list + a poll with the job list with up to three votes (top 3). For each event a new topic/poll has to be made. There could be a deadline for voting (f.e. one week).
- Event Submissions Topic (f.e. "Event" Submissions): A topic where people can share their jobs fitting the event job type. Maybe (depending the host) support selflessness by adding a rule to only submit your own job combined with someone elses? This topic would only need to be created once.
- OPTIONAL: Event Review Topic (f.e. "Event" Reviews): A topic that contains all reviews from all different editions of the event. All in a pinned topic, easy to find and easy to look back on previous editions/reviews. This topic would only need to be created once. OPTIONAL (as it would be good to have highlights/reviews in the event edition topic)
Use posting templates for your event!
It is explained in the guides to joining/hosting events.
Once you made a posting template for your event it will only take you seconds to make a new topic the next week.
- (Optional) Go to create your thread as normal in the events section (the reasons for this will soon become clear). Make this post as generic as possible to save you the bother of changing details when you use it. Don't forget to use the HTML to BBCode converter if you are transferring your post from the old forums. Once finished copy the BBcode version to your clipboard. You do not have to submit your post
- Go to profile > edit profile > settings
- Click on the create button under "Posting Templates" and name your template using the popup.
- Paste the BBcode version of your post into that small (which is why the first step is advisable) box under "posting templates".
- Click "Save Templates" and "Save Account Settings" at the bottom.
- Now every time you want to use the template create a thread make sure your in the BBcode view, click "Posting Templates" and then select the name of your template
