First impressions of this race from the RSC map were that this was going to be a tough slog. I'm not usually one for long races but as soon as I started this race I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It is long (8 minute lap but I'm not the best racer so could be much quicker) but the diversity of the race keeps it interesting.
Starting on the bridge in East Vinewood you take a quick run through the industrial estate into Mirror Park.
Fly back towards Legion Square for a short blast up the freeway and then it's some short sharp 90 degree corners in and out of the edge of the city up and down the bridges along the East side.
As you hit the wide open roads of the Elysian Freeway heading towards the Port you cross the big red iron bridge before a sharp left hander slings you down in to the Port area.
Before you know it you're thrown into a tight left hairpin and you're on your way back out the Port courtesy of another tight right hand hairpin. Burn through Cypress Flats and across the Green iron bridge and through the back of the Hood. Then it's another bridge crossing near Lester's Factory to make your way up to the freeway where you can really open it up for the final stretch.
A few twists and turns through Harwick & Alta then back around Mirror Park to bring you back to the start.
This race constantly jumps out at you when you least expect it with a wicked 90 degree turn here, or a blocked off exit there, forcing you to think quick and act quicker.
Amesy has done a great job making this race technical enough to test your skills but at the same time giving you lots of open road and sweeping corners to let you sit back for a few seconds and enjoy it, before kneecapping you with a devilish set of corners that will make you wish you had paid more attention as your competitors fly past you. The different districts it goes through with a mixture of industrial areas, open freeways etc make things much more interesting
My only criticism is that about half of the checkpoints are too far away from each other and I found myself looking at the minimap a lot trying to second guess where the next corner would be.
A few more (or closer together) CPs in places would really improve the flow of this race.
Secondly - a few of the CPs are set in the middle of the road quite close to medians or trees etc in the centre of the road. Maybe move these to the left or right and give racers a clear target to go through, rather than having to clip the CP to avoid the upcoming obstacle.
This is by far the longest race I've ever created, so I'm glad it's varied enough to keep your attention.
I agree that some of the checkpoints are too far away from each other, I completely maxed the CPs out so I can't add additional ones. There are 100 props placed, so that was also maxed pre-Stunts, but with an extra 50 props and the use of some of the larger stunt props, I think I can prop the course much more effectively to take any guesswork out of the routing.
Also agree 100% about the CPs in the centre of the road, I think that I will setup alternate CPs on each side of the road so people can choose either side and not run the risk of hitting a lamp-post. I noticed you spell centre with the "re", are you Canadian as well?
Again, excellent feedback, I'll update the thread once I've finished the changes.
Thanks so much!
